The file might have gotten corrupted during download. Try downloading it again.

If that doesn't help, try using a different unzipping tool- 7zip is one of the best out there, and it's free and fast.

G'day Kym. Welcome here.
Are you trying to unzip the file on a computer you have no problem unzipping other zip files on? If so, you may just have a corrupt file and need to redownload the firmware. Do so via the official Pentax website to ensure you have a legit copy.

...beaten to it - thanks Adam. Hope it works out for you.

The update file is a self-extracting zip file. No unzipping tool is needed.

Simply download the file and execute it by double-clicking it. It will unzip itself.

If that doesn't work, download it again, possibly from a different site, such as the Pentax Japan site, rather than the Pentax USA site.

Not necessarily. Pentax was clever enough to realise that not only windows users use Pentax.

So there is a zipped version for people who don't use Windows and there is an (optional) exe for Windows users.

Some browers "remember" downloaded files, in the case if your file is corrupt, downloading the file again will not help. The browser will deliver the previous file again.
If this is happening to you, you should first remove all temporary Internet files before downloading the new firmare file again.

Success, Bert
