Shutter capping

Is shutter capping a problem that can easily be fixed? I've attempted before but not sure if I am just stripping springs/gears or actually effecting a repair? What is your experience? Cheers!

generally it refers to horizontal travel cloth shutters. Capping is also called tapering, whereas the second curtain catches up to the first curtain while within the film gate, producing no image or part of an image. It is evidence of weak tension, dirty lubrication to the clockwork mechanism or magnetic solenoid problems. CLA needed! Curtain bounce means the brakes are worn or glazed over causing the shutter curtains to not stop travel but rather colliding at the end of travel creating a momentary wrinkle which may or may not cause a minute light leak or improper exposure across the negative. Again CLA needed!
