Promaster 7500EDF Flash questions

Hi,
I have a Promaster 7500EDF hot shoe flash.

Promaster Flash

The P-TTL works great.
I am trying to get it to work in manual mode. When I press the "mode" button to get it into manual, the LCD shows "manual" for a split-second and then it goes back to P-TTL. It doesn't matter if the flash is at 45° or any other configuration.

I want to be able to control the flash power etc.

Thanks

Hey Bronco (I used to have a '77) - I too have the 7500EDF. What I've noticed on mine is that the "mode" button is VERY flakey - like it doesn't make good contact. Sometimes I have to press it multiple times to get the setting I want. Irritating! But, eventually, it gets there. Perhaps your's has the same affliction??

It seems like that might be the problem.

When yours is at a 45° angle, can you use the manual mode or is it just when the flash head is at an angle different than 45°?

Thanks

Yep, works at 45 - and all the positions. But, it does sometime "skip" around - seems like the switch/button is not particularly 'choosy' as to what it selects.

Weird. Mine doesn't go to manual when at 45°, but will at any other angle?

I think mine has a mechanical problem.

It will not go into manual. It will go into manual after the camera stops metering. As soon as I press the shutter half way down, it jumps back into PTTL.

Is there a setting on camera that I am missing?

Don't think you're missing any setting. Sounds like the flash has a problem.

I think I got it to work. I put the camera in X-Sync and it works.
I think that was the problem all along.

Thanks.
