Repairing an Optio W80?

Optio 80 Pentax10 megapixes Just got it at christmas and last weeks holiday standing in 5 feet of water and lowered camera under water 10 inches and water filled the monitor with water and camera shut down. Camera was bought in St. Marrten last november. Is the replacement or repair available in Mississauga or any Pentax camera depot. Hopefully in NewMarket ontario. thanks , Mitch

Hi,

the seals must have been either damaged or not properly closed. either way, chances are that water went in all of the camera, and that it's bricked...

If that ever happens again to you (I hope not) remove the battery and card immediately, and placed the camera in a sealed bag or box with either cat litter, multiple dessicant bags or rice, and hope for the best. As it is, I fear a repair will be more expensive than a new camera. You can get good deals on w90 models right now, since they have been upgraded. Some stores like Henrys and Vistek still seem to stock them.

Good luck.
