Help! lens will not come off

Okay, I just bought a used k7 and I have been using a point and shoot for the last 20 years so all my slr knowledge is not just faded but it's not digital. Anyway, having trouble deciding where to start with a zoom lens so I tried an old lens my mom had. It went on just fine but now I can't get it off! Any tricks?

It is an off brand (Focal) bayonet mount that she used on a k1000. I had a pentax lens on the camera that came right off before putting this one on.

Unfortunately I never thought to look at the base (my husband's first question) before I stuck it on there. Part of why I chose the k7 is that I thought it was able to accept all pentax mount lenses.

Most likely the Ricoh pin. Read this thread and you can also google ricoh pin lens removal. It can be a pain to remove but don't worry it can be done with patience. Good luck.

The K7 did accept the old lens, didn't it

As KxBlaze said, might the Ricoh pin; in which case it's not a Pentax mount lens but a derivate of it. Do a search for Ricoh pin here on the forum if KxBlaze's link does not help.

Good luck

Good question, sterretje. yes, the camera worked perfectly with the pentax 18-55 lens (on/off no problem).

Thanks Kxblaze for you quick reply. I have visited the links and, even though I have not yet gotten the lens off, I feel SO much better knowing I am not the only one who has done this! Will keep trying.

Once you get the lens off here's a link on how to remove the offending pin: theatre of noise: Ricoh Lenses On Pentax Cameras -- The Ricoh Pin Fix

Good Luck!
