Will Tokina lens fit Pentax KR camera?

I bought a Tokina SZ-X820 80-200mm f/4.5 Pentax K mount zoom lens as a surprise present for my husband, who has a Pentax KR camera. He is pleased with the lens but the mount looks different to the Pentax kit mount. Can anyone tell me if it will fit his camera. Thank you.

This is a very nice (and cheap!) lens, with excellent image quality (although not a very fast lens). Light and solid, with the A setting. It will certainly fit your husband's Pentax camera.

Can you post a photo of the lens mount?

You have done fine!
Lens looks ok to me. Have you tried (carefully) to fit it to the camera?
Does it have a red dot to align on the camera?

I had this lens: it has the harmless kind of Ricoh pin, which won't get the lens stuck on the mount (although it might add some friction to the (dis)mounting.)

Hi Pauline,

I'd wait trying to mount the lens, but I could definitely be wrong.

That looks like what I would imagine a Ricoh pin on the mount. I've never seen one, but the pin to the left is not a usual K mount pin. Take a look at any printing on the lens and if it says anything like K (R), then I'd wait until someone with more experience with Ricoh lenses posts and says it's okay.

If it is, and I hope that someone more familiar posts, this could lock the lens onto the body. This is not fatal, but it's definitely a PIA and scary.

If I'm wrong, sorry. . .

edit: okay, causey beat me to it. . .

lens mount

Aligned red dots and carefully fitted it, and it will take off as well. Tried taking picture in AV and M but it doesn't take anything.

What does that mean?

What happens when you push the shutter release button? Any sound? Any movement?

Verify that the aperture ring of the lens is at "A" position and try taking photos again.

Put the lens in the A position and use it in Av.

Yes, removing lens cap is usually a pre-requisite for photography.
Unless the subject is, like, really ugly. Then leave the lens cap on.
I have taken some photos that would have been better like that.
