Auto aperture mode is not readable (SMC F 50/2.8 macro)

Greetings all

I just have a SMC F 50/2.8 Macro
there is little problem about the aperture rings,
when mounted in the mode A (auto), aperture value is not readable on my camera body (K-x). information value of F does not exist (F -). The previous owner wore k20d and k100d body, everything is normal. I fear that there are problems with delivery of these lenses:ugh:

any advice about this? really not a big problem because there is a green button, but it feels more comfortable if all goes well

thank you very much in advance
regards

Check the electric contacts on the lens and body, and see if they need cleaning?

Make sure the A position on the lens actually protrudes the A contact on the lens.
