K5 - DOF preview with MF lenses in aperture mode?

Hi everyone,

Just wondered if its possible to use DOF preview on the k5 with manual lenses in aperture priority? I can get it to work in manual mode but i want the convenience of aperture priority, checked my k5 manual but no mention of restrictions using DOF preview :S

If it helps I'm using a helios 44k on my k5.

thanks in advance

Nope, you can't. You only have the luxury of AV mode with m42 lenses.

Don't know about the K-5 but manual lenses only work wide open on the K20D, K10D. Therefore DOF preview is kinda useless as it is what you are seeing thru the VF anyway.

NaCl(not certain but I think the K-5 is the same)H2O

Only with full manual (M and K type) lenses. With all others, DOF preview works fine in Av.

I'm pretty sure the DOF preview on the K20D works in LV too.
I think the entire point of the feature was to allow the camera to stop down so as to view the scene through the intended aperture.

I tested this with the K-5 and it only worked in M mode.
However with M42 type lenses, the DOF preview is pretty much a given in LV(anywhere, anytime).
