What does focus to infinity mean?

What does it mean to say a lens does or does not focus to infinity?

just that it will not capture the far distance in focus (or possibly the close distance)depending on how much it's lens sensor registration distance is off.
Flip side is generally these lenses work well as macros if they can be adapted (not all can)

also becomes an issue when buying off brand adapters for m42 lenses, some stick up above the lens mount moving the lens to far from the sensor so it can't focus at infinity. since there are proper m42 adapters without this issue it's better to just avoid these.

He was not able to achieve infinity focus and that is what it looks like; simply out-of-focus

I think that is exactly why he asked

Yes. But I didn't think I should ask there.

I ended up sending those back to Fotodiox.

I did get the original Pentax & it works great.

However, Fotodiox sent me 2 new M42 adapters. I've not used them, but looking them over, they don't have the problem as the Bower M42 with the screw going in too far. They seem to be of the same quality, and specs as the Pentax.

There's a database here: https://www.pentaxforums.com/accessoryreviews/category-Miscellaneous-Accessories.html However, it seems like there's a new adapter coming out all the time.

I would not think it would be too difficult for some very intelligent individual, to come up with the perfect adapter.
They could call it, "One Adapter to Rule the World". One adapter which would enable any lens to work on any DSLR.
