LBA: You own a DA70 which you love, in fact it's the best IQ of the 4 limited lenses you own. Focus is perfect, it's sharp wide open. You also own a 50-135 which is superb for portraits. Focus is perfect, sharpness is fantastic..... so do you sell one of these because both are superb portraits lenses? No you don't, inexplicably you not only keep both but also buy a FA77. That is LBA.

Is this a recent page from the story of your life, twitch, or is it a potential future chapter that looms ominously and greedily over your bank account?

LBA is easy to beat. Lenses come in sets, so just limit yourself to one or two lines. I've chosen the S-M-C Takumars and Ks....see it's easy. Oh yes, there are a couple that sneak in from the A* line, but as long as you stay away from the As and Ms, then your cured.

Of course, there was that 100 SDUF Pentax telescope that I found, but that's not LBA.

I've figured out a full proof cure......I'm keep searching the marketplace for one of these....but no luck

I think my current collection has style:

I think only one was in the previous photo. That's the Vivitar 55mm f2.8 macro, Cosina 55mm f1.2, CZJena Biotar 58mm f2 (looks nice but broken), Rikenon 55m f1.4, Mamiya/Sekor 55mm f1.4, SMC Pentax 55mm f1.8, Auto-Takumar 55mm f1.8 and SMC Takumar 55mm f2.

Another definition of LBA: someone asks how many 50mm lenses you have, and you're not exactly sure. I was kind of surprised to discover two Pentax-M 50mm f1.7s on my desk.
I have never had a gathering of the 50s, but my photo might look a little like yours.
  • Sigma 50/2.8 EX DG Macro
  • Auto Rikenon 50/1.8
  • Auto Mamiya/Sekor 58/1.8
  • Pentax-K 55/1.8
  • Helios 44M 58/2
  • XR Rikenon 50/2 (2 copies)
  • Pentax-M 50/1.7
  • Pentax-A 50/1.7
Most of the above either came on or belong on one of my camera bodies.

Oops! Forgot about the rangefinder lenses!
  • KMZ Jupiter-8 50/2 (LTM, two copies)
  • Kiev Jupiter-8M 50/2 (Contax/Kiev, two copies)
  • Kiev Helios-103 53/1.8 (Contax/Kiev)

Steve

When after looking at your lens collection, however large or small, you still think you need one more lens. And maybe you do.... the lens is out there.

Lol, purely hypothetical of course.

Oh good, I am o.k. I probably only have about 20 or so 50mm lenses.

GAS: Guitar Acquisition Syndrome
I always thought it was *GEAR* Acquisition Syndrome. That's what they called it on the bass guitar forum I used to go on. Oh well ... Same thing I guess.

I am not sure what you mean about LBA. I also found out that the K85f1.8 is a superb portrait lens, the M85f2 is for light weight. They are in the same FL but different, so I cannot let one of them go. Same as the K135f2.5 and the K135f3.5. LBA? neh, they are for different needs ;-) ;-)

Me, an exemplar? Not hardly. Others here have confessed to more. Some have nearly as many 50's as I have lenses, total. Someone over at the manual lenses forum admitted to having over 1500. I'm nowhere near that league. And since I've just sold a few, my remaining count of 50's is just 45. Yes, I'm running low...

How it starts: You get a basic beginning kit -- for me, that was the K20D, DA10-17, DA18-250, FA50/1.4. Then you get something faster in the zoom ranges. Then you get some bag-lots of really interesting glass, cheap. Then you start thinking, "Hmmm, I wonder how well those would work?" and you buy some cheap lenses. Then you are doomed.

Of course you can! But why would anybody want to stop? Money? pffft! You can always sell your car.

I don't *suffer* from LBA.

I enjoy every moment of it!

Except losing auctions.

What I find just as bad as LBA is PFA - Pentax Forum Addiction - a condition where you waste hours of your time reading posts like this one when you'd be much better off out there taking photos.
