? underexposed k5 and new sigma 50-150

I took this set up down to the bowling club and had a play with it. My second play. The first was at work under fluorescent lights..... I thought they were underexposed but didnt stress too much as I put it down to the lights and environment.

So today I made a concerted effort to keep the exposure constant even tho I played with all the dials, knobs and switches..... I had to push the little blinkie to the right to get them where I wanted but the camera then told me they were overexposed?
I really love the colour renditions tho!

To me they are at least 1.5 stops underexposed..........Raw SOOC to lightroom exported as jpgs....I am hoping the exif is intact but otherwise.....the old boy on his own is 1/1000 at 2.8 iso 100 133mm , the other 1/800 at 2.8 iso 100....hmmm the exif data lies.....it tells me it a 70-200 ex dg sigma but its really a 50-150 APO HSM!

any ideas?
cheers
Jan

Forget about the blinkies. They probably lit up on anything that is white, correct? Do what You know to be correct. This is a little writeup I did for somebody else not too long ago.

Ahah! The penny drops! Excellent writeup! I will have another play today and see if I can get a feel for this lens.
Many thanks

Check D-Range setting in the cam and turn it off.

Btw, at 2.8 I get slight overexposure with my 50-150, somewhere around or a bit less than 1/3EV compared to other 2.8 lenses.

The EXIF data doesn't "lie". But Sigma used the same lens ID number for both lenses (EXIF doesn't contain a textual name, just a number). So depending on the software you use to view the EXIF data, you'll get different answers (e.g. exiftool uses the focal length to discriminate when possible, and you can also tell it that your lens is one or the other so it doesn't have to guess).

I looked at the first photo and stopped looking further

there is nothing wrong with exposure AT ALL

the majority of this shot is middle grey and this shows up at 118 in the histogram. Right where it should be. This is how camera metering works, it will attempt to balance the exposure to middle grey/
