If someone bid the 1.7 AF-A up to $560, either something was fishy with the auction or someone paid way too much (IMO).

This is true. I've seen them quite recently for BIN of less than $400. It's still a high price but $560 is way too high. It isn't the highest price I've seen on one though. Keep an eye on the marketplace. They turn up there quite often.

I wouldn't leap to that conclusion. Bidding wars happen, immature bidders start outbidding each other in order to "win" instead of getting a great deal. I've seen it happen to some of my auctions, and it always brings a smile to my face.

Typical selling price on eBay for one of these can easily range from $400 to $500. If it's a new one with all associated packaging and literature, probably the higher end of that scale. If it's a new OLD Made In Japan one from old stock with all packaging and literature, then $500+ is not unheard of.

I wasn't jumping to conclusions, remember, I said it was either fishy or someone paid too much. If it was just a case of people trying to win, and the net result was a $560 1.7x AF-A, then I stand by the second part of my statement that someone paid too much

Yep, 369 for something I found in a in a local shop, 2nd hand, and paid 25 for.
Nevertheless, a rather unique item these days.

Well, the weak dollar certainly isn't helping

If you're not in a huge rush, just keep your eyes open as used copies can be found for around $300 if you're patient.
