Question on teleconverters

I have used a 2x and 3x in my film days but now I'm needing another and found a vivitar 1.4x and a Vivitar series 1 2x, both are marked AF. What is the quality on these converters. I know about losing f stops. I just need to know if these converters are any good.

I was looking at the Vivitar 1.4x. It looks like the old Tamron or Kenko. I was going to get it but I found a Soligar 1.7x and bought it instead. Can you return it if it isn't what you want? Adorama sells the Vivitar. I've read that their return policy is good.

I found these at B&H, I'm sure I can return it if it's not what I want.

Where did you find the Soligar?

Thanks for finding those for me. I checked but didn't see those in the database. Guess I was looking in the wrong place.

Where did you find the Soligar?
I bought the Soligar on ebay. From what I found researching the AF 1.7x Soligar on the net, It was sold only in Europe and looks like the Promaster. It is not 1.7x, but rather 1.55x. I did a quick test and that looks correct, about 1.5x to 1.6x. A rare item. It auto focuses well. It will even auto focus my DA 18-250mm, a lens not noted for use with a TC. It works pretty good with my 55-300mm, but I'm not sure if it is better than cropping. Some shots look very good and others not. Seems a little better if the 55-300mm is kept a little shorter than 300mm, not sure why.
