Aperture adjustment and k-x

Okay, so Im a bit confused. I picked up a pentax 50mm/1.4 lens and am trying to get it working on my camera. So, I have set the aperture ring setting to permitted, have the camera in M on the dial, and the manual on the focusing. All good, but if I turn the aperture ring, I cant see the blades move at all...all is good when not on the camera and the blades move perfectly when turning the rig, but when I put it on the camera the blades open to the 1.4 setting...

Is this what is meant to happen?

YES !

You always "aim" at full aperture, whatever the lense you use.

When you shoot, blades will move to the aperture set.

You can set the "green button" (menu, number 4 on the right / "green button" / optical viewfinder (?)* ) then, when you put on "M mode", when you'll press the green button, it will stop down your lense from full aperture to what you choose.
If the viewfinder* get a bit darker, it's all good !

Note : when you'll press the green button, then blade will move to aperture you want, so DOF will be bigger, and the focusing easier, if there is enough light.

*i'm french (so i used a translator for this word, don't know if they are right ones )

Aaah, get it now. Obviously have a fair bit to learn still . Got it working and viewed the blades close up , and have the optical preview sorted. Looks good. I am glad that I have a DA40mm as well, as focus is bit harder and takes longer manually. But should prove to be a great lens to play around with. Many thanks...
