when i'm using my SMC Pentax 300/4MF lens on my K200D, i'm getting a pink-halo
over the white subjects. can anyone let me know how to correct it?

Sounds like a familiar problem, but without seeing an example of what's going on, its going to be rather hard to figure out the cause.

Can you take a sample shot of the phenomenon and post your settings along with it?

Chromatic aberration.
Are you shooting wide open? That would make the CA effect worse.
Stop down to at least f/5.6 and you may see this essentially disappear.
