The Pentax store will have the adapter. Around $30. Well worth it.
You only need 1 adapter.
Once it's on the camera, you can just screw in any m42.
I recently got a 55 1.8 for $12.
You may find some nice m42 primes on your trip.
Some of the Soviet made ones are just fine.

Thanks for the Adorama recommendation - very much appreciated.
BTW Adorama actually has an Ebay account!

Don't spend 30 bucks... Spend ten on a fotodiox from amazon ( you might wanna pay a bit more for rush shipping)
I also recommend that you invest some time practicing getting it on and off your camera. It was a little tricky for me at first, but once I got the hang of it I can pop it on and off without the included tool. Just use your nail to activate the little lever then use your thumbs on the inner thread to twist it on or off. I store mine (hardly ever because it's almost always attached) screwed back onto my lens.

I think it's a good idea to trim down your lens selection to two. You will be busy enough traveling without the added inconvenience of lugging around a ton of lenses. Someone mentioned earlier, fast fifty for indoors. Kit for outdoors.

Good luck on your trip...be safe and don't forget the basics.

Shutter speed vs aperture vs iso

Oh, btw, you are now obligated to post pics of your trip

Quick questions: will the M50 work without any modifications on my K-X?
Yes. Just stick it straight on. Under custom settings, set the green button to set Tv shift in Manual mode. Switch to manual - choose either centre weighted or spot metering (no matrix possible) set the desired aperture on the aperture ring on the lens - point camera at subject - press green button, which meters and sets appropriate shutter speed for the aperture - press shutter release.

As far as new production lenses, DA 35mm/2.4 and DA 40mm/2.8 LTD will be about as cheap as you will find. Both will be capable of producing quality images.
