Lines in pictures taken on Pentax K100D

Ive had my camera for a couple years, but barely used it much. and lately most of my pictures ive been taking have had lines going through them wrecking the pictures completely. What is causing this?? i am shooting with a 55mm lens

There's nothing wrong with the lens. Things to try...

1. New batteries.
2. Different card.
3. Shoot RAW and process from there to see if it's a Camera fault or a conversion fault (I'm suspecting the former).
4. Find all the resets in your camera menu system and perform them.

That could very easily be the card gone bad.
I've also seen this sort of thing when pictures were taken in an area that has a strong electro-magnetic transmitter of some sort nearby.

+1 This looks like a faulty card.

Discard this card and get a new one.

It's not lens and I doubt it's the card (by all means rule it out by trying a different card).

I strongly suspect you have a faulty sensor

I am afraid I agree.

To me, this also looks most of all like a faulty sensor. Maybe some of you remember the issues around 2003-05 with Sony CCD sensors (used by a major group of camera manufacturers then) where images gradually degraded in a few cameras now and then.

As I recall it, the issue with these sensors was the gradual de-bonding of a moulded epoxy layer within the sensor, and it sometimes manifested itself in the same manner as we see here...........

Is there an auto rotate image on the K100d? If so, turn it off and try that.

I vote card problem since that's the cheapest/easiest to fix. Next would be electromagnetic interference (not likely, though). If not those two, then I'd suspect the camera.

I had something like that. On my K10D I have used a 32GB SDHC card bought from ebay (from China). Almost all my pictures was destroyed. So, I think there is something with the SD card.
