Advice sought on Dropped K100d

i need help to a ? i have a k100d and i dropped it on its side and now it will not read the memory card and have problems with the view finder it seems darker than it usually does the light around around has to be very bright. so should i go get it fixed and send it to pentax or should get a new camera?

Get an used K-x/K-r would be better than having the K100D fixed imho.

Sounds like a good reason to replace the camera. By the time you pay to fix it, you'll be at least half way (or more) towards the cost of a new(er) camera. Sell the K100d for parts to recoup more of the money. That's what I would do anyway..

I have to agree as well. Fixing the K100D is not going to be very cost effective. I imagine you could pick up another K100D for far less than it would cost to repair yours. Plus, you could still sell your K100D for parts to recoup some of the loss.

That said, it's also the perfect excuse to upgrade

thanks guys ill take your readings in to cosideration that is probablly what ill do upgrade when i got the money i just miss my camera so much and need to come up with 210.00 bucks to get a used camera and my budget just doesn't cover it so im kinda beat right now so if anyone got any ideas please let me know thanks again for the info

Post a listing for 'Cheap Pentax DSLR' in the wanted section. An ist DL doesn't sell for much, it could hold you over until you save up for your new K-5.

I'm kind of re-stating some advice already given here. If you can hang on, you'll probably find a used K100d on the marketplace for under $200 eventually. The *ist series are usually even less. I LOVE my old *istD. Meanwhile sell your broken K100 for parts/repair.
