How 'used' is this camera based on shutter actuations?

OK, obviously shutter actuation's don't tell everything, but based solely on them, how 'used' would you say a camera with 6992 shutter actuation's is?

It would depend on how many pictures the old owner took per day or at a time. My guess would be around a year?

Still got plenty of life in it...

I think I recall another member stating that pentax shutters were good for 100,000...

My K-x is a year old and probably has well over 2000 acutations

As another poster stated that would depend a bit on the length of time the owner took those shots in. If they were taken in a month compared to over a year then there's a small difference but in the big picture that camera is still an infant. Shutters are projected to last at least 100,000 actuations (with proper care).

That is about 7,000 shutter counts. That is not much an the camera had little use.

A shutter count of 7,000 is not a lot. Of course that depends on how long it took to get there. My K100DS is over 25,000 in about 4 years.
However, I see shutter count is like mileage on a car. It is an important factor but there are so many other factors involved like proper care and abuse. I've seen cars on sale with only 5,000 miles on them, but most were in a drag strip, 1/4 mile at a time. That is more wear and abuse than 50,000 miles by the provervial old lady who used the car only to get groceries.

7,000 isn't much at all. My K-x has 25k on it and is showing no signs of problems or wear.

I have replaced a shutter (in a ZX-M) without instructions, so I have less fear of shutter count.

I would avoid a camera with damage from being dropped, because even if you saw it happen, no one really knows what the damage is. Most of the other stuff is electronics, which usually work until they die without warning. Usage is not a great predictor of when this will happen.

My *ist DS has a fair amount of wear on the lens mount for ~18,000 shots, but it'll be a while before the wear is critical:

If you want some "statistics" you should visit this thread:

My own K200D has had 36,500+ actuations since early 2009, (astrophotography and stacking takes its toll). So far, so good; but as said above the shutter is an electronic wear and tear part that may die without warning.
