p50 shutter speed problem

I recently purchased a p50 but in manual no matter what speed I select or auto the shutter seems to fire at the same speed .meter seems to work fine and display on camera selects ok but even on bulb setting still fires at the same speed . can anyone help?

Welcome to the forums.

The only times I see this problem with cameras is if A: The Meter is not communicating with the camera (what type of lens are you using?) or B: The camera is just firing at whatever the default flash sync speed is. It's a problem I Usually see with ME/ME Super cameras. I assume you've read the manual and have made sure that everything is set the way you think it is.

Thank you .It does seem to sound like option B as even in bulb mode shutter still fires while shutter release button held down .have tried several lenses so I think I have a dud. but wont give up just yet . Thank you for info
