Actually you can do baby pics outside, but the baby needs lots of sun block and shade. No direct sun and no more than 15-20 mins at a time outdoors is best. Inside next to a window with white gauze curtains between the window and the baby is nice too. Natural light and babies is a nice mix. It's flattering and it's safer for babies with their delicate skin and eyes.

I agree on the window light. You would be AMAZED at the results of windows lighting... the painters have been using window light on their portraits for hundreds of years.
If you can get a north facing room with a big window you will cut down on the extra equipment needed until you get your company up and running.
