The multi meter showed that the batteries had a charge. So I really have no clue what is going on. I wish the K-5 and K-20 used the same batteries so I could try them in the K-20 and rule out a battery problem.

We have, and the charger won't charge anymore because the batteries are full.

Sounds like you've exhausted the battery route. Warranty repair seems in order, have contacted Pentax to initiate a warranty claim yet?

Just to be sure, I didn't see any mention of an SD card being in your K-5's slot.
The door may be closed but if there's no card, then the K-5 will behave the exact way you've described. Confirm that you have a working SD card installed on the K-5 before you power on.

I was experience one time. If battery is full, so put it in camera turn on when your hand touch LCD if it feel hot. It mean camera broke. Not battery.

So I wound up sending my K-5 in to the service department in Arizona. They have had it for 8 business days so far and haven't heard anything from them. Does anyone have any idea how long it takes?

Hi, when I sent my camera in, it took them 15 business days to send a unit back to me. Taking into account shipping time and weekends, the whole process took about a month. Since my camera was also a warranty repair, I didn't get any type of order tracking, so I waited 15 business days and gave them a call. They have your name on record, so can check on the progress of your repair/replacement for you.

Not only in Arizon there have about 6 repair saervive in USA. I chose in Oregonn they reply me so fast in 4 days before I mailed it in Oregon. Cool. I know Arizon is too long wait.

GAHHHHHH! So I finally found out what is wrong with my K-5 after getting the run around from Pentax and CRIS CAM. I need to have my circuit board replaced and it will be a minimum of a 4 additional weeks before I get my camera back. Seriously!!! I am about ready to scream!!!

They should give you a free replacement.

That's what I insisted, but all I got was some bullish line about "we don't give replacements when the camera can be fixed". But really another 6 weeks when i've waited 3 already and that was an estimate. Are they rowing a boat by hand over seas to get the part??

Loosing faith in Pentax - as I sent my last check in to pay off my K-5 yesterday.

Anyone want to buy a K-5 and a slew of lenses in 6 weeks

This is one of the biggest issues with Pentax - I dont think they expect professionals to use their equipment - they just dont realize the loss of revenue to a professional when the camera is unavailable for 6 weeks. Hope Ricoh will do a better job - at least with their flagship products.

I just don't understand why they won't just issue a new body. Something seriously went wrong to make my circuit board go. I'm not a camera repair expert but it seems like if the brains of the camera go, then its pretty major, and who is to say their repair is going to work and it won't happen again. sigh
