caring for the camera body and lens

Is there anywhere here in the forum or other links that says (preferably with pics) step-by-step guide educating us as to how to clean and care the camera body periodically, also the lens.

This I am asking because, I have the rocket blower and one other one but really don't know as to how often to do this and how to clean the body and sensor (yes it is mentioned somewhere here in the forum and the manual for sensor) and the lens. All that I do is blow on the outside of the lens and wipe away the glasses or blow it.

About the body don't know really how to hold and clean or whether holding in a certain position might blow the dust or something even more inside the body and making it even more complicated for later without us realising. So I feel there is something basic as this needs to be somewhere to educate all or new users like me.

I'm no expert, but I just wipe the body of my camera off occasionally with a microfiber cloth if it gets any dust on it. I've not had too much problem with dust on my sensor but I have used the rocket blower to blow dust off it once. I haven't messed with the sensor any more. I don't think you should clean the sensor unless there's an actual problem with it.

The lenses are the same way, I think. I might wipe the outside off with a microfiber cloth. I have a special extra soft MF cloth to use on the lens glass, if necessary. Typically, though, I just blow with the rocket blower to remove dust. If in the rare case I get a smudge on the lens glass, I will blow my breath on it to get a little condensation, and then use my extra soft cloth to wipe the glass.

I'm sure others will chime in! I look forward to their responses.

I use a microfiber cloth for the externals and a dedicated microfiber for glass that I only hand wash with soap for the glass. If you wash the cloth for the glass it may end up with fabric softener of it which will streak and can be a pain to remove. I rarely use the cloth for the glass. Only when there are smudges etc. Normally I use a lens pen and rocket blower every time I take off the lens cap or change lenses.

In addition to the above, I have found a dry cotton bud (Q-tip) to work well for cleaning the nooks and crannies around the outside of the camera body. For the eye piece, I use a lens tissue dampened with lens cleaning solution and push it around with a cotton bud to get it into the corners.

Guys, this is why I was really hoping to find out if there is really a proper way for doing this. I have noticed even before similar sort of responses. Each person have their own unique way of handling this, so really there is no right and wrong thing (which is what I can guess).
But again we do not know now if one method is harmful than the other. So weather resistant is the only guaranteed option that needs no worrying!!!
I was hoping really to see or learn mainly when handling a blower as to how to hold it so we do not blow the dust further into where it should not go!! and also which parts of the exterior of the camera body are more prone to help us push the dust towards the interior or in other words the parts of the exterior that we need to concentrate to save the interior...did I confuse u al enough!!
