Use a short rubber tube to remove the retaining ring to - you can probably find one close enough to the correct diameter is the selection of rubber coupling tubes in the plumbing section of your local hardware store.

Or make a rubber washer to fit over the retaining ring, put it over the ring, then with an appropriately sized tube (drinking glass, etc), press down and turn ccw.

If you're refering to This I already got a set, and they are too small to remove the ring digitalis is talking about (the cap that sits on the front of the knurled focusing ring).

I am going down to Honolulu for about a month, maybe there is a camera repair shop down there...
