Problem with K-x's Live View

I've encountered a weird issue with my K-x. I've had the camera for over a year but the problem is recent.

Whenever Live View is on, whether filming or taking pictures, when I press the shutter button half-way down, the Live View goes blank and the mirror slaps.

Instead of doing the contrast detect AF, the mirror slaps (is it the mirror?), screen goes blank, camera does the regular autofocus, mirror slaps again and the Live View switches back on. And then I can take the picture.

Oh, it's kind of difficult to describe but I hope you got the idea. Now I hope it's not a problem per se and I've just messed up some settings but I can't figure it out.

Sounds like you accidentally enabled Phase detect AF in Liveview.

you might want to consider leaving it as it is since AF is much faster that way
