Slow shutter speed

I have a K100D and lately the shutter has been very slow. I have the most up to date firmware, fresh batteries and I can not figure out what is causing it. Any help would be great.
Thanks

Do you mean the lag between hitting the shutter button and the photo being taken?
Which part, exactly is "slow".
Hate to ask stupid questions, but is your shutter speed set slow?

First thought would be mechanical damage, barring any expected behavior.
Low batteries would likely just cause the camera to stop working. Not cause the shutter to be slow.

Did you accidentally set it to mirror lock-up with 2 second delay?

This is a long shot but how many actuations do you have on it? If it's around 100,000 the shutter might be dying.

When I take a picture the shutter opens and closes very slow.
Not sure how to tell how many actuations it has but am sure there is no ways near that many.
Also not sure what mirror lock up is.

Could it have been left in high heat? (hours in the car during summer?)
Dunno about whats used in there but some substances turn liquid others to jelly.
Purely a guess...

Regardless it sounds like a shipment to a professional repair facility is in your future.

What is the shutter speed you are using? Perhaps you have it set very slow. Check the exif data to find out the speed and actuation on the camera. High heat is very unlikely to cause shutter problem unless it was left for a long long period of time. Mirror lockup is a feature that helps to prevent shutter slap which can cause camera movement. I would also look into the self timer. Perhaps it is set on 2 seconds delay.
