SMC Pentax-F 135 1:2.8 Lens cleaning

Hi, community!

I've got an SMC F 135mm lens with some gunk on one of the inner elements. I'd like to remove the element so that I can try to clean off the gunk (it doesn't look like the usual fungal growths I've seen on lenses).

Does anyone have any experiencing disassembling this model lens? Can anyone offer me any advice?

I tried removing the front lens last night, but I was unsuccessful in getting the darn thing to turn...I suspect that I just need to use more elbow grease.

Any wisdom will be appreciated,

Regards,
Lenny

I don't know about repair on this lens. But I have a same lens. Mine has some debris & dusts inside too. It is very easy to get dust in the lens.

My opinion for a lens at this value (~$500) is that don't try to open it yourself. I chose to live with the debris and I don't see they affect image. In case I do want it to be cleaned, I would send to Eric to let him do it. I guess he can do it for $50~$60.

Hi, Hyyz. Thanks for the reply (and the wisdom).

Send it to Eric you say? Okay, I'll look into that.

Cheers...

Just realized you're in New Zealand. Maybe you can try Pentax Services there first, I guess? That could cost you less than sending oversea.

Hey, thanks for the reply.

I'm going to have another look at the lens to see if I can dismantle it myself, then I might investigate the Eric option further...I'm not too daunted by the overseas aspect.

Thanks again for taking the time to respond to my query.
