Need a new grip on lenses

Anyone have a suggestion on find source of replacement grips for focus rings as found on K and M series lenses.
OR
An even crazier question... a technique for DIY-ing some... pour your own grips.

I am a cheap bastard. When I got an M42 Vivitar-Komine 90/2.8 macro for three bucks, the rubber grip was decayed and torn. I ripped it off and replaced it with... GREY DUCT TAPE! The lens does not look elegant -- certainly not worth stealing -- but it functions perfectly. If aesthetics concern you, I'm sure you can find some black duct tape. Or just use a magic marker, heh heh.

Actually you can get duct tape in an array of colors, even pink if you want, or camouflage.

There is a product used to make rubber grips for tools. I cannot remember the name but I used it years ago. It comes in a can like paint. It requires you to dip the handles into it and then let it dry. Not sure how that would work on a lens, maybe you could paint it on gradually.

How about some good ole rubber bands? If you want to make sure they don't slip, put them over some 2 sided tape. Of course it would work better for primes than zooms that have the large grip area but it's a workable solution and rubber bands come in all sizes. The only drawback is eventually, they will dry out, crack, and fall apart.

They make various spray rubberized paints, or textured heavy duty truck bed paints. I would think duct tape unless you can find something better, then paint with a rubberized spray paint.

Come to think of it, they make aluminum tape. A couple of layers of that would make a nice, smooth, strong base. The finish with a rubberized paint.

Very good suggestions everyone! I'll still hunt for my home brewed dupe of grip and will look at the plastic spray or coat products... unless I learn how to vulcanize my own rubber...lol!

I used the brocoli bunch rubber bands as they are wider.
various colors but no black. the purple ones look nice.
Also sliced up the grip off a dead zoom and had enough to do 2 lenses
I think a sliced up bicycle tube would work.
