Live View mode on K20D

Hello,

Just wondering if someone could help me with Live View. .. I cannot seem to bring it up at all on the camera with the grid and AF display. When I turn the on/off dial to the live view nothing displays on the screen. Any reasons why?? Very frustrating!

Thank you in advance..
Carrie

Has this ever worked? Do you have the manual? Difficult to cut and paste from my .pdf version.

Hi JohnX,

I tried it once a when I first got the camera but have not used it since. Thought it might help with composition although I am so used to looking through the viewfinder.. I do have the manual. It seems to be pretty straightforward.

Cheers,

Need to look at page 113/114 first, then 227.

Good luck

THANK YOU!! Missed a step.. Brain overload. Will it actually capture the image at that time?

To be honest I've never used it. Kept meaning to, but think I know how.

Best to use a tripod and take just one shot at a time.

Set the camera to AF.S, then rotate the main switch to the preview position.

Activate Live View.

The camera won't focus yet.

Compose the picture, press the shutter release button, now the AF system will set focus and a photo taken.

Lots of mirror action, live preview will go dark, but you should have a great photo!

Not quite correct. With the K20D, to focus while in live view, you need to press the AF button. The shutter button will do nothing more than trigger the shutter.

Happy to be corrected on this, as I haven't tried it for myself, but what if you're set up to auto focus with a half press of the shutter button?

Whatever your "regular" AF settings, in live view AF will only engage if you press the AF button. Weird and sad, but that's how it is. They cnaged it on the K-7 and K5.

Thank you! Not quite sure if this is a feature that I will actually use now that everything is clarified. Maybe on the rare occasion

Cheers

And thanks from me, too!

Think I'll go away and try it, even if it's not too clever an implementation.
