Pentax DA* 50-135mm Issue

Hey guys/gals

Just had my brand spanking 50-135 delivered. Took several pics ... turned out nice . was shocked at how quiet auto focus [sdm] worked.
However!

Today while shooting a soccer match for a friend I believe i may have come accross the dreaded SDM failure. As i was shooting, the lens all of a sudden would not focus or move but instead i could hear a quite distinct click everytime i half pressed the shutter button :S. Missed a goal score because of this and after moving the lens back and forth in Manual Focus for a few shots i tried again and Auto Focus worked again... Weird ! Seems the lens is only 3 days old should i contach BH Photo Video and inform them of the error or just let it ride for a few days and test to see if it will happen again??

Any information regarding the issue would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Never has happened with my 50-135. You may want to just return it. Hope you have extended warranty on this lens. Because of reports of sdm failure I just went ahead and added a 7 year warranty to my purchase. Not had to make use of it. But...

Could be contacts on lens and body need cleaning? Using MF may have been enough to move the lens and make a better electrical contact?

I would clean all the contacts with DeoxIT. If that didn't work, return it asap w/o 2nd thought.
