K5 Shake Reduction in RAW Mode

Recently bought a K5 and have an issue. I hope I'm missing something but my interpretation of the manual is I can't use shake reduction while shooting in RAW or RAW+. This seems to be born out by the fact that I can only turn it on when I change to JPEG. Am I missing something?

SR has nothing to do with raw or JPEG output format. I shoot raw almost exclusively and I use SR. There are other things like HDR that only operate for JPEG output.

Thanks. Any ideas as to why I can't turn SR on? If I change to JPEG I can turn it on. When in RAW or RAW+, SR turns off and the field goes gray in the menu (can't select).

Sounds crazy. What does it say in the manual that seems to indicate this? I have a K7, not a K5, but shoot exclusively in RAW with SR on nearly 100% of the time. Are you sure it is SR that is grayed out? Maybe you are getting your symbols mixed up because there is some other stuff that does get grayed out with RAW. SR is the little hand symbol with "shaky" brackets around it. (At least on the K7.)

Did you try a reset of settings (via the menu)?

Before this gets out of hand, has happened before, need to find out what mode you are shooting in.

OK, did a reset and everything's working again. Not sure what I changed that fouled it up but reset fixed it. I was shooting some long-exposure night shots in B-mode. Could that cause it, and should I reset every time I do that? Just thinking out loud

Cheers

2s and 3s timers will disable the SR. It only partially explains the behaviour that you experienced. I would keep an eye on it. Might be a glitch that happens every time when you use the timers or only once in 10,000 times
