K-r stuck on Av.

Hey guys, really need some help here. The mode select on my K-r is stuck, not physically, but when I turn it to select say Sv, it ignores me and remains in Av mode. The only modes I can use are M, Av and Video. The camera seems to decide on it's own when it wants to let me use my other functions again, but the problem always comes back. Any help would be appreciated.

My k110d stayed on TAv when it died, I hope your doesn't die like mine. If you send it in, see and post what they did to fix it.

Crazy question... you don't happen to have an older manual lens on it do you? Because if you don't, the camera "thinks" you do. At least those are the only functions available when I have my old manual glass on. Maybe the contacts need to be cleaned so that the body can "see" the lens?

are you using a manual lens without an A setting? if so, then that's normal. If not, try cleaning the electronic contacts

That may have done it guys, I had a few specks of mud or something on the contacts that must have been shifting about when I changed lenses, don't know how it got there.

The plastic back caps used to protect lenses is a big source of crap getting on the camera mount after numerous lens changes.

Had the very same problem, Dan; thank you for posting your question. I was able to remedy my "stuck in Av mode" problem today because of this post and the answers. Thanks all!
