Pink Pictures

I have a Pentax istD. I took pictures of a sunset two months ago and after that the camera was ok. However last week I took a batch of pictures and white background is replaced by Pink.
Someone said it may have been the sunset shots - does anyone know and is it terminal?

Post an example of what you mean (including EXIF info).
It could be a sunset lighting situation (you should know if that is the case), or a mixed lighting situation. It could even be a filter on front of the lens (Skylight1A?). Most likely it's an adjustment / correction.

I suspect the condition is terminal, and that the patient doesn't have very long left. Very sorry for your loss.

Your sunset shots wouldn't do this, especially since shots of the sun tend to be short exposures (otherwise they'd be so blown out as to be useless). The danger of shooting the sun is to your eyes in the viewfinder, and even that isn't too big a deal at sunset, usually.

I would suggest you make the most of this. That effect you're getting has the potential to be a very artistic interpretation of reality. It's almost like a low-key infrared thing going on there, very cool. I'd also start saving/shopping for a new body.

What's your budget? K-x, K-r, K-5, they're all good. So is the K-7 but it's not known for amazing high ISO performance. If weather sealing is important to you, then a K-5 or K-7, or even a used K20D would be good options.

It comes down to budget. If you can afford the K-5, go for it, it's currently the best and has weather sealing. Prices have dropped on it quite a bit lately, shop around a little.

You will be able to use your lenses on any Pentax DSLR, so no worries on that front.

Not quite sure what you mean by "babes at the races". You might have to post a few pics to illustrate your style of photography, so that we can make an accurate suggestion on the best possible replacement camera.

If you've been happy with your istD up until now, there's a whole flock of cameras available. Do you want new or is used OK? K100D Super, K10D, K200D, K20D are all available in the marketplace and usually at very reasonable prices. KX, KR, K7 and of course the wonderful K5 are all available in the new (or almost new) / used market although the first 3 will take some searching to buy new.
How much do you want to spend? Start at a couple of hundred and go up to just beyond eleven hundred for a flagship. Take your pick, your lenses will work.
