That is not accurate. My K-r without lens asks for the FL to be input, but it doesn't do stop down metering with black anodized lenses/tubes. After sanding my tubes a bit in the correct spot for the contacts, they work perfectly. The camera asks for the FL input in any case where it doesn't receive the information from the lens (or lack of lens).
