Pentax SMC P FA 28 mm - 90 mm F/3.5-5.6 Lens

Hi,

This lens is on e-bay at the moment.

Pentax SMC P FA 28 mm - 90 mm F/3.5-5.6 Lens

I have a k-x. Would this give me a) autofocus b) an improvement in picture quality over the kit lens?

If no, can anyone recommend a sub £200 lens that would cover a similar range?

That lens is definitely autofocus. But probably about the same IQ as the kit lens; could be better, could be worse, depending upon the one you get (and your kit lens). Th FA 28-70 f/4 is probably a little better, as is the FA 24-90 f/3.5-4.5, if you can find them - I think there is one of the latter in the marketplace right now, for about your price. The F 35-70 f/3.5-4.5 has a more limited range, but really nice IQ as well, and doesn't cost much. Hope that helps!

Many thanks to you both. Looking speculatively really. I was given a 50mm prime manual lens which is awesome but my focussing eye is not quite there yet. The price of this kens attracted me! Will look in the marketplace.
