K-x and Panasonic FZ-150

Hi all

I am sitting here at my favorite watering hole knocking back a pint. Taking some pictures with my panisonic FZ-150 and my K-x with 18-135 lens. The FZ-150 seems to blow the k-x away. I am running the FZ and K-x in manual mode, I'm sure most is operator error. The k-x I have had to boost the ISO to 1600 while the FZ is at 100 ISO. the K-X pictures are still blurry and not real good detail. I'm really disappointed in how this is going. I have a lot invested in lenses and this camera. I was really hoping to get better low light shots. And just better or sharper photos in general. The 18 -135 can only open up to f5.6, while the FZ was at F3.6
Any suggestions

Get a faster lens. The 18-135 is not an indoor/poor lighting lens.

Can you post the pictures? Even at F3.6 vs F5.6, that's a difference of about 1.5 stops (5.6-4-2.8). So if it's ISO 100 on your FZ, it should only be ISO 300 or even 400 on the k-x for the same shutter speed.

Not to mention the panasonic is a 1/2.3 sensor, which is something like 3.75x smaller than the k-x sensor... which generally also means the ISO performance of your FZ at 100 ISO isn't even comparable to ISO 400 on the k-x.

Here are some of the pictures.

The 1st picture of each subject is from the FZ 150

I see from the pictures I took with the KX there is a lot of motion blur and shake reduction was on, I believe I still didn't have enough shutter speed.. I was able to get a better shutter speed with the FZ-150 at 1/2 sec or better compared to the 1 sec. or longer with the KX. Again this I'm sure is operator error. But I look at the light meter of both cameras and it should be fine. Evidently I am wrong.

Thanks

SR on the K-x isn't going to help you at shutter speeds less than about 1/15. I have handheld shots at 1/40 with the 55-300 @ 300. Any longer than that and you are going to need a tripod.

The picture of the barrel is focused on the front of the shelf. The Panasonic has a much greater DoF so everything is in focus.

The picture of the mug is out of focus because of camera shake. Why were you shooting at ISO100? Boost it to 1250 and you might have a chance.

The lens on the Panasonic is a little more than a stop faster. Boost the ISO on the K-x by a stop and you should get the equivalent shutter speed.

Better yet, put it in Auto ISO and use Av or Tv mode.
