Using MF lens with K5

Hi, I'm new to Pentax - just been lured away from my beloved 550d by the awesomeness of the K-5.

I'm having problems getting manual focus lens to work though. I've got a Tamron 2.5 90mm (Adaptall mount) and a Super Takumar f4 200mm. In both cases, when I fit them to the K5, the camera flashes "F--" and won't fire.

Is there a setting on the lens or the camera I should be using? Or have I bought the wrong adapters? Or something else? Many thanks.

Definitely a setting - in the custom settings section

----- edit ----

I post the link not out of snideness or snarkiness, but out of wanting to provide information that already exists in excellent form, better than I have the time to type up now Welcome to Pentax
