Sun Hood

I'll try this again.
I purchased a K2000 used online and when I got it the sun hood was on it. Most of them I know how to get off. This one has a ring that losens it but when I try to take the hood off it just turns and turnsl Is there a button or trick to getting it off?

Thanks, pixme

Do you have a photo of it?

It ha s a ring you turn and loosen. It won't let me unscrew the sun hood after I loosen the ring.

Try loosening the ring then turning the hood.

That's some sort of crazy setup, because it's not the OEM hood nor a hood designed for that lens. The correct hood just uses the bayonet on the lens:

I don't want to force it. I think I'll go to my camera guy and see if he can get it off.

Thanks for your help. I kind of learned how to post pictures here.

Thanks

continually unscrew the bumped thing... it looks like it's just attached into the filter threads

+1 Unscrew the ring. That seems like a hood that screws on just like a filter onto the front of the lens.

I've got a couple of those hoods, and they screw into the filter thread. The plastic they're made of is pretty soft and the threads can get a little mashed, so just use a bit more force and it'll come right off.

Again thanks for the help.

I went to my camera guy today and the hood was slightly crooked. He got if off with no problem. I was afraid to turn too hard. Didn't want to brake it.

Maybe you do want to break it, and replace it with a bayonet hood. This one is $4. I have this hood and it works fine. Even has the little window for CPL filter.
