HDR on K10D?

After another go round with the owners manual for my K10D I remembered the HDR option and tried it on a recent trip to the mountains. Can someone please show me the error of my ways. I am setting the camera as suggested, taking the set number of frames with the different exposure values. Am I wrong that the manual says that only 1 pic will be saved(a compilation of all frames) because it definitely did not. I didnt lose anything but I got way more files saved than I was expecting. Thanks Rod

If there is an HDR option on the K10d, it's a digital filter look on jpeg images and has little to do 'real' HDR. The K7 was the first DSLR to do HDR in camera.

The K10D doesn't have that function, looks to me you bracket your photo.
At home you can use those photos and combine them to a HDR, this is actually the way to do it since you have full controll over it.

You may be confusing exposure bracketing with multi exposure. As Anvh said bracketing does give you better control, and better results than a built-in HDR function. You just need a program like photomatix to combine your shots. Here's a sloppy try with my old k10.

I used a total of 12 exposures to make this panorama of 4 HDR photos with a K10 in 2009. Each photo was 3 bracketed exposures merged to HDR in Photoshop. I then combines the 4 HDRs with Photoshop to make the panorama. I used the K10 bracketing function and a "Panosarus" head on my tripod. At 300PPI, this is 12 x 26 inches. Taken at the Elizabethan Garden on Manteo Island, NC.

I've done it on my K10D. The camera is used to take 3 or 5 bracketed pictures (-2, -1, 0, +1, +2) and then you need an external program to combine them. I use my Photoshop Elements 8 which has a way very basic ability to "photomerge exposure". It gives OK results but doesn't allow the artistic variability of the dedicated programs. (I'm not yet a big fan of HDR so PSE*'s ability is adequate for my purposes)
