Looking around for a good k-7 deal.

So, I am not sure if I am posting in the right place. If so, kindly tell me so, so that I may move this. I recently decided to upgrade from an *ist DL and I've talked with some of the people in here (all very nice, I might add), and the consensus is try to get maybe a K7 or go all out and try for a K5. I have been perusing what is offered here, as well as my local craigslist ads. I came across this one (edited):

Up for sale is a Pentax K-7 digital SLR camera body. Coupled with a nice set of Pentax "pancake" primes and I think it represents the best small SLR package for the money.

Includes everything (i.e., charger, battery, cables, manuals, etc.) when new in its original retail box and packaging

-14MP sensor
-720p/1536 x 1024 HD video recording
-Smaller magnesium/steel alloy body
-Revised viewfinder (less magnified but with greater coverage)
-Updated sensor with four-channel readout
-3.0" VGA (920,000 dot) LCD
-New shutter mechanism with 1/8000th shutter speed
-Faster continuous shooting (up to 5.2 fps)
-77 segment exposure metering sensor
-Revised autofocus algorithms
-AF illumination lamp
#5d 7d d90 d700 F2.0 35L 85L
-New dust removal system
-HDMI output

I sent out an email, and as near as I can figure from our conversations, it's at least purchased 2009, is a US version, has 15920 shutter actuation, and is going for $550. Now, if it turns out that the owner of this camera is also a forum user, please understand that I'm only trying to get others' opinion on this, and to make sure that it's a good deal. So, people, any thoughts? Thanks in advance!

addendum: sorry all. I forgot to mention that it's body ONLY. thanks again to those who've read and replied.

Unless I missed it you do not say what lenses are included so no way to tell if this is a "good deal". A couple of limited primes would make this a really good deal.

For body only I don't think it is a bad price. 16,000 actuations is not bad either. Amazon has the K-7 with kit lens listed at about $900 new and in stock, which sounds weird but who knows.

If the camera comes with a couple of "pancakes" Limited lenses, this is a "steal". The lenses are the key of the deal IMHO. Good lenses are worth every penny, and you will keep these once you upgrade.

Hope that the comment may help.

Frankly anything is an upgrade over the *ist DL, but I would go still ahead and spend the extra $250 to get a used K-5. The IQ is really a lot better

Look at the noise tests here: Pentax K-5 Review - Image Tests - PentaxForums.com

I think 500 is pretty reasonable. A K5 is a better camera, as Adam says, unfortunately, I haven't seen them going for less than 850 (usually 900 list price) on the forums.

K7 body usually runs for $500 + shipping with around 5k - 20k shutter accs. You can probably get the seller to slash the price off to $500. But also since it's a craigslist ad you can check and play with the camera in person before you buy it. Good luck.
