Best budget radio flash trigger?

Hello. I have recently gotten a Pentax K-X and a basic flash, Precision Design DSLR300 from Amazon. Does anyone know if this flash unit will be controlled by a radio flash trigger? So I can use the flash off camera? I know I can use the flash by just pressing the button when doing a long exposure at night, but I'd like something that can be triggered like a regular flash, only with the flash off the camera hotshoe. Is this possible with my basic flash? If so, any suggestions on a trigger that I could use?

Cheap Triggers

These work well. Amazon.com: CowboyStudio NPT-04, 4 Channel Wireless Hot Shoe Flash Trigger Receiver: Electronics

I have 3 sets, use on Pentax 540's & Yungnou 560, mostly shooting through umbrellas. You'll have to figure out manual exposure but your histogram will help you.

Cactus V5 works well if you're just doing manual flash. I also have a set of Cactus v4 which worked ok with a few misfires on occasion.

Cowboy Studios triggers

I'm on a very tight budget, and shooting is just a hobby. I picked up a set of radio triggers from Cowboy Studios really cheap and they work great. Yes It's just a trigger, but I'm shooting manual flash settings, mainly portraits, so I don't need the $200+ controls. Give them a try, it's a cheap bet.

I agree go with V5's, V4 missfires. Why one would ttl or pttl is a waste of light, grab a quality metre, use manual fash and you control the light, not your flash have a look at this site;

Do you know if the V5s will work with Pentax AF-280T? That flash is NOT listed on Amazon's compatibility list, so....

I have the RF-602, using it with a K-r and YN 460-ii. It works ok, but max sync speed i can get is 1/125. If I hold the button on top then trigger I can get higher. I think that's due to it not being a native pentax hot-shoe. So if you don't need to use higher sync speeds then they're a realy cheap solution.

An even cheaper solution is to just get a hot-shoe cord, which will save you the hassle of batteries, but limit how far away you can have the flash.

I've heard the PT-04's can get higher sync speed but have a shorter range than the RF-602's. Still cheap too: 4 Channel PT-04 Wireless Radio Flash Trigger Control: Amazon.co.uk: Electronics

I do not know about that flash, the V5's work on my, metz AF 58 2 flashes, Sigma Em 140 DG flash( why is one using remote triggs on ringflash, are we not allowed to experiment ), and contrary to belief the v5 aslo works on my elhinchrom studio system, as for AF-280T, I would say yes will work in manual mode only( no pttl, ttl ect), same as my flashes I have mentioned, Manual only.

Having just acquired a set of Cactus V5s, I can confirm that they also work with the Pentax 540, Sunpak PF20XD, and an old Contax TLA20.

Cactus V5 is good. I have 4 of them, they work allways and use standard AA size batteries/accus same as flashes. They even work 1/1000sec exposures, i did test with canon pocket cam.
