SMC Pentax-FA 100-300mm F4.7-5.8

Hi everyone,
I'm a newbie, and don't know much about lens or accessories. I have question about the SMC Pentax-FA 100-300mm F4.7-5.8. What type of hood can i use on that lens. It's the best if anyone can give me the link to buy it.
Thanks!

Welcome aboard. That lens is pretty well thought of for a low priced option to reach out to 300mm. I'd read the reviews here if you haven't already.
SMC Pentax-FA 100-300mm F4.5-5.6 Reviews - FA Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

You can find them in our Marketplace section from time to time. There's an ad for one now:

You can also find them at KEH used:

Just to put in an alternative - I am selling a Quantaray 100-300 currently:

Here are the reviews of it:

Gee, just trying to help. Oh, and ALL the stats say that its 4.5 - 5.6 for BOTH the F and FA model. You want the silver model at this link:
https://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/SMC-Pentax-FA-100-300mm-F4.7-5.8-Zoom-Lens.html

I'll be a nice guy and let you know that its available from KEH:
http://www.keh.com/camera/Pentax-Autofocus-Zoom-Lenses/1/sku-AP07999053080F?r=FE

As for the Hood question you'll have to use a screw on hood as that one does not have a bayonet attachment. Its a 58mm so you can find 3 stage rubber hoods, which are my preference for a lot of reasons, for very little.

BTW, your manners stink.

The third version is 4.7-5.8

SMC Pentax-FA 100-300mm F4.7-5.8 Reviews - FA Zoom Lenses - Pentax Lens Reviews & Lens Database

It is much more highly regarded than the FA 4.5-5.6

The FA 4.5-5.6 is rated 6.67 in the database. The 4.7-5.8 is rated 8.67. The F 4.5-5.6 is rated in between.

Caught that and added references already.

My copy of the f/4.7-5.8 version is super-duper. I'm no birder but I've got my best bird shots with it. I use what's probably an undersized rubber screw-on fold-down hood, so I'm careful not to shoot into bright lights. You'd probably want a hood in the 2-3in / 50-80mm length range. A longer rubber hood would be OK too, as long as it can be folded back a bit to avoid vignetting at the short end.

I should bill you for my search time.

I just searched eBay for 58MM RUBBER LENS HOOD and I although I get many hits for under US$5, I don't see any that meet my stringent specs. The longest seem to extend about 50mm / 2in from the thread, which may be adequate but not optimal. Like I said, mine is short -- I don't have it with me right now so I can't measure to be sure -- so I'm careful about aiming into lights. If I were to be all anal|precise about this, I'd probably look for some 58mm-thread extension tube about 30-50mm long to put behind the hood.

I love my silver 100-300, even with all its quirks. I bought a 58 mm rubber collapsible screw-on lens hood for it. It works fine, but it is so wide that I have to remove it when in my bag. I now use a metal lens hood from a 200/4 Super Tak. Reverses on the lens and no vignetting. Looks kind of strange - silver lens with a black hood on a black camera, but the photos are great!
