It's not a matter of reading, i already did that but now understanding and i can't the way you describe it.
When i read what others say about perspective distortion then they write about something else entirely ....
The only one that's in line with your story is wikipedia but that's so confusing and in consistent. When you look at the suggestions of that thread they also all say it's full with mistakes.

But hey you say science explains "perspective distortion" great, give me an example of that.

It is true there is lots of conflicting onformation on the sibject - sometimes because people are talking about different things, sometimes because people are mistaken about details.

I have given as detailed an explanation as I can possibly think of for the specific phenomenon I am talking about. Did you try the experiment? it should be self-explanatory if you actually do what I asked.

The key, again, if that *it doesn't matter what distance you choose to shoot from*. If the perspectiv distortion were dependent on distance, then it should be possible to make it go away by shooting from the right diaance. But you can't. Pick any shooting distance you like and *actually perform the experiment*. No matter what shooting distance you choose, you will *not* be able to get the wide angle lens to make objects look as close together as they are in real life, nor will you be able to get the telephoto lens to not make objects look closer together than they are in real life. Again, *actually perform the experiment* and it becomes obvious.
