K-r with k mount lens question

I just purchased a used K-r, which I am planning on using with my old k mount lenses. F-- is flashing and I can't figure out how to set it. Camera is in M mode, lens is attached, but camera won't fire. This is my first dslr, so please excuse my ignorance.
