Have any of you tried this method for focus adjustments?

AF microadjustment for the 1Ds mark III, 1D Mk3, 5D Mk2, 7D

I ran across this when I was calibrating my friend's D7000 and 50/1.4mm lens. I made a +3 adjustment using the standard 45 degree angle method. I then tested it against this GIF and it agreed pretty well. I didn't have the time to revert the 50 to 0 adjustment and see how it looked (Did this at work on break). If this really works this would be a much faster (still free) way to calibrate lenses. Have any of you had success using it?

Didn't found it to be precise enough for my lenses to really calibrate.
