Tripod suggestion

Does anyone know about or have any experience with "Detai" tripods. There is a seller from Hong Kong who lists these on ebay for $170 including shipping. It is of carbon fiber construction, and comes with a ball head. Also one of the legs detaches to convert into a monopod, which I think is quite clever. I have been looking for an inexpensive tripod and really want something lightweight. Anyone here thinks this is worth buying? Here is a listing: Professional Carbon Fiber Camera Tripod Monopod Ball Head For SLR DSLR With Bag | eBay
Would like to know the advise of forum members - buy or don't buy? And any other feedback appreciated.

Edit: here is a Vivitar one for $125 http://www.ebay.com/itm/320853287210?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

I use this one.

Sunpak 423PX2 3-Section Carbon Fiber Tripod 620-423-CFT-PX2 B&H

It works well for what it is. Light weight and includes a carry bag. I picked up a cheap monopod at Walmart and switch the head over to it when I don't want to use the tripod.

Thank you Rodger. Will check it out.
So, no one has anything to say about the Chinese tripods?

Most tripods are made in China. You may get a good bargain. You may get junk. I got a Smith Victor for about the same price and have been happy with it. It's a bit heavier and steadier than the Sunpak. It comes with an Arca Swiss compatible ball head that works fine. There's a real advantage to getting an Arca compatible head. There are many, many plates available and many heads. It will offer you greater flexibility down the road.

I looked up Detai, all I found was this: DETAI means Don't Even Think About It
I think that's a sign!

That is a very witty reply - LOL
I have been considering the Smith Victor after reading Michael's post. Thank you very much for the tip. I have stopped thinking about the DETAI.

After much research I finally ordered a Sirui T2205X carbon fiber five section tripod with a Sirui K-10X ball head. This seems to be quite light and compact combo. Will see...

I got this Ravelli carbon fiber one for $90, and it has worked out very well.

I picked up a Benro Travel Angel a couple of years ago. It has worked out well. If you are able to get a tripod with an Arca-Swiss head, all the better. AS is pretty much the standard. I also found a used Manfratto that I acquired. Its larger and heaver and for various uses, better.

I will say, that I have no patience for leveling tripods. The ballhead is wonderful for this. Just be advised that most ballheads that sit on a panning table, you need to have the tripod perfectly level in order to have the panning table pan level. The alternative is a much more expensive ballhead that has the panning table on top of the ballhead. If you are not going to do a lot of pannig - then its a moot point.
