Peak focusing, please explain

What exactly is peak focusing?
I looked on the Internet and can't find something simple to understand

Actually it's focus peaking. The camera highlights the sharpest-looking edges in Live View.

It's actually pretty amazing. If you can pick up a K-01 to play with, it is really something to see. It gives your focus point a white/silver lining to show you exactly what is in focus. Manual focus couldn't be easier. You see the shift from in focus compared to out of focus like a split screen for live view.
