K-5 and JPG issue

Actually it might not be an issue at all but I cannot find the answer in the manual or by searching here.

I have my K-5 set to shoot in RAW - DNG No problems on any mode except green which is by default set to jpg. Is this normal or am I missing something?

Green mode doesn't let you do anything basically, so it'll automatically switch it to JPEG. Green mode bad. This is standard green mode fascism.

Exactly right. If you're looking for a lot of automation, but to also have the possibility of tweaking settings, try P mode. In all seriousness though, learning to use Av isn't much more involved than shooting in auto, and it's a lot more useful.

yeah no argument out of me. I was just curious. One might think though, that the format you want would be affected there.

Green mode is essentially set to make sure the user cannot mess things up. Imagine someone who has no idea what a RAW file is somehow getting it set that way? A quick call to Pentax complaining the camera takes really bad pictures. Not everyone is into photography, some just want to take pictures. My wife now uses my k-x, in green mode, because she refuses to learn anything about all that photography stuff. Not that she couldn't learn, she is much smarter than me, she chooses not to. And that's what green mode is for.

Ah, on my K20D, Green mode allows RAW shooting. Sometimes older is better, [That's what I keep telling myself.]

Pressing the AE-L button on my K-5 saves the raw+ file to the memory card in green mode.
