Tamron 24-70?

With the great performance-for-value rating of the 28-75 2.8, I was very discouraged to find that Tamron didn't make a K-mount version of their new 24-70.

How come they didn't? Any chance that Tamron might make one? Or should I just settle for the Sigma 24-70 2.8 HSM one?

Tamron has not made any of their new lens designs available in K-mount for quite some time, this lens is no different.

Yeah Ricoh really need to start reaching out to third party manufactures like Sigma/Tamron/Tokina and encourage them to support K-Mount, otherwise it will end up in tears for everyone.

What?! oh my. Just googled it, it is sealed - though I can't be so sure how much (I daresay even the DA 18-135 has better sealing than this Tamron) but nevertheless, I agree that Ricoh has to keep up its game for 3rd party manufacturers to consider the K a profitable mount.

Ever since Tamron started putting their own image stabilization into lenses, they haven't sold the stabilized lenses for the K-mount.

Sigma really upped their game in the last couple of years and it appears Tamron is following suit.

I don't want to turn this into yet another FF thread, but I bet if Pentax came out with an FF camera, we would see more support from third party manufactures, including Tamron, Sigma and maybe even Zeiss and Voigtlander again.

But none of the lenses released from Tamron lately are for FF? so where is the argument?

The Di II series lenses are for APS-C Bodies (which the new 24-70 belongs too) and the newer Di III series lenses are for Sony E-mount Mirrorless system.

This is what Tamron have been working lately.

This also applies to Sony, with the exception of the Sony E-mount

Is there a common time when 3rd party lensmakers stopped producing K-mount versions? Or was it a gradual thing?

Let's hope that this lens will be made in Pentax KAF-mount version, soon. Undoubtedly, if this happens the Pentax version lens from Tamron must be cheaper than the other versions (Nikon, Canon, Sony), because of the shortage of VC system. Pentax does not need it.
That's one more argument why Pentax must produce a FF body at last! The toy story scenarios prevent Pentax from being one of pioneers in photography world.
Pentax K-5 is a great camera, but Pentax K-1 will be a greater one!!!!
Cheers!
