K-5 AF points positioning

Hi!

I've just bought a new Pentax k-5 and I find it to be a very solid camera body.

There is one issue though... When I look into the viewfinder I can see that the red AF dot, in the center, is not in the middle of the spot metering frame. It slightly goes off to the right side of it. When I try out the other AF points I can see that they are all drawn a bit to the right in comparison to the AF frames.

I think that this is really annoying. Is this a common problem? I'm pretty new into photography so I have no idea.

Jocke

it have been reported few times here.

If you can, return it to get another one. Before doing that, write somewhere the SN to be sure they don't send you back the same body

This doesn't affect your pictures or the actual AF points at all. The superimposed points in the VF are just an approximation, but I can see how a misalignment would be annoying.

I know that it doesn't really affect the AF, but it certainly is annoying everytime I look in the VF.

I've spoken to the camera store now and I will have my camera replaced, so right now I'm hoping that I won't get another camera with the same problem...

That's why I wondered if it is a common problem.

Have you guys any idea of what the cause of this misalignment is?

The matte screen with the engravings might be slightly misaligned.
